The Challenge
The client, made up of 39 independent shops, approached The Marketeers with a challenge, which was to create a video showcasing the independent shops of the town. They wanted it to be all in one video, and wanted each shop to get a reasonable amount of the spotlight each. The consensus was that Peebles was known to have a good high street but not many seemed to know just how good it was unless you were from the local areas.
The Strategy
Delivering the long-form promotional video for the Peebles Retailers Association required much more planning than your typical content shoot. Due to the volume of stores, this task had to be split into two groups, the route from each shop planned and timing it all perfectly to ensure each shop got the most out of the allocated time.
By splitting the production into two working groups it allowed each team to simultaneously film across different sections of the High Street and surrounding area, significantly improving coverage within the allocated time. It also allowed for more flexibility on what time the team arrived at each shop to allow the team to adapt to different opening and closing times while also taking into account the busy times for certain shops.
The Result
The completed Peebles High Street promotional video delivered a strong digital response generating over 16,000 views across all social media platforms and significantly extended the campaign's reach beyond the town going as far as Australia.
The final video successfully highlighted the diversity, personality and independent spirit that makes Peebles High Street different from the rest for both local shoppers and visitors. The content provided participating shops with high quality promotional exposure while also reinforcing the wider message of supporting local businesses.
The cross platform performance demonstrated strong audience engagement and more importantly, it gave Peebles Retailers Association a polished, professional marketing asset that could continue to be used as a promotional tool long after the initial campaign launch.
